Carolina Deslandes releases Chorar no Club today, her seventh studio album, which arrives on all digital platforms with 24 tracks. Admittedly, the most daring album of the singer and composer’s career to date, the new album is a pop record that mixes nightlife, dance floor, introspection, feminism and desire, without asking permission from anything or anyone.
“I’ve known Carolina for 10 years. We’ve done hundreds of shows and thousands of hours of music together. I’ve known her for 3 of her children and 1 of my children. She’s one of my favourite people to make music with. Before being a producer and musician, I’m a huge fan of her work, so making this album and exploring this new side of hers was very special to me ❤️”. — Feodor Bivol
“Producing an album with Carolina is like therapy with a soundtrack — we laugh, we cry, and in the end we still get a record. She has ideas every five minutes and, incredibly, they all work.” — Jon.
“Working with Carolina was an emotional journey. This album is raw, honest and full of soul, each track has truth and intention.” — D’AY
“All I know is that the tackle I gave Carol after she wrote the verse for ‘facial feia’ was pure instinct; she spat out so much truth that I couldn’t stand still. I feel like this album is the whole Carolina: the one everyone knows and the one she’s always been.” — MAR
There are really 24 songs — one for each time of day — that make up what she herself describes as an emotional guide for those who live with their hearts on edge. An album made for those who have cried while dancing, for those who have gotten lost in the night, just to not feel alone. A reunion with the woman Carolina was and with all the women she is discovering.
Chorar no Club was recorded in Lisbon and at home studios, produced by Feodor Bivol, MAR, Jon, and D’AY. It is the first album since Casa (2018) in which Carolina shares the production with other artists and assumes, artistically, a multiple identity — made up of heteronyms, desires and layers. It is raw, it is pop, it is free.
Carolina Deslandes continues to establish herself as one of the most complete, creative and influential artists of her generation. In 2023, she released the double album CAOS / CALMA, with songs such as “Vai Lá”, “Saia da Carolina” and “Brincar de Ser Feliz”. Among her greatest hits are also “Avião de Papel” (with Rui Veloso) and “A Vida Toda”. With more than 130 songs registered with SPA, she has been heard millions of times and has become a transversal reference for the public, for new generations and for pop music itself made in Portugal.
Chorar no Club is a party — about how much we all need therapy and to heal our broken hearts.”
This album ignited a desire and a thirst that I didn’t know I needed. I love stepping out of the box that everyone thinks I live in.
I don’t want to repeat myself, I don’t want to be too comfortable in my skin. I want to experiment, I want to give what I have and what I don’t even know exists yet — being an artist is living by asking questions.
Chorar no Club is a reunion with the woman I was before motherhood and with the woman I’m discovering — it’s bold, feminist, sexual, also solitary, introspective, and above all, free.
It’s an album that talks about escaping our lives into the night, not to pretend we’re happy, but to cheat loneliness and cry while dancing, blending into the crowd. I spent a lot of my life working in nightclubs and escaping from my home. I used to say that I’ve had more honest conversations in a DJ booth than in a church.
“Chorar no Club is my first album with heteronyms. It contains all my personalities, and with them their doubts and desires. It is the first album I have made since Casa that has had several producers — I love each of them with all my personalities.
