It is a great joy to share this cycle with you in the «Carta Blanca» format: the CCB has been central to my activity as a musician (instrumentalist, orchestra leader, composer and concert organizer). It was here that I performed one of my first recitals in Lisbon and where I saw the birth of the Portuguese Chamber Orchestra in September 2007. I lived endless hours in its rehearsal rooms, on stages, backstage, corridors, in all these multiple valences. Over the years, I have also witnessed how its magnificent spaces were “devoured” by the public, in an energetic frenzy through the corridors, between numerous festivals, recitals and concerts, in its various auditoriums, spaces and rooms. The first concert of this White Card celebrates percussion, the center of my creative life for more than three decades, through the essential work of some creators who are part of their (and my) history in the 20th and 21st centuries: Tōru Takemitsu, Iánnis Xenákis and Alejandro Vinão, punctuated by moments of improvisation/creation, in the company of musicians from different generations.
