Casa da Misericórdia of São Brás de Alportel presents Museum for all project

Committed to the mission of inclusion at all levels, Santa Casa da Misericórdia also took the opportunity to present a project it is developing to make its Costume Museum a Museum for All.

Creation of a water-circulating sensory garden, an accessible mini-lab linked to cork activity, a tactile wall in the cork room, braille leaflets, miniature replicas of the museum’s display carriages for and an audio and video application for mobile phones that will make a guided tour in four languages ​​are some of the news that will be available to the more than 40 thousand people who annually visit and enjoy this Museum that is a true cultural symbol of São Brás de Alportel and the Algarve.

We want the blind to see what we have to show; may the deaf hear what we have to say; that wheelchair users can know what we have to show, and that everyone can enjoy this time travel, ”said Provedor Júlio Pereira.

The director of the Costume Museum, Emanuel Sancho, explained that this is a differentiating project that aims to enrich the tourist and heritage area of ​​São Brás de Alportel.

For the elimination of architectural barriers, the creation of experimentation spaces, the correction of pavements and the availability of accessible information, the project, estimated at € 150,000.00, is funded by Turismo de Portugal through the Valorizar – Helpline Program. Accessible Tourism. This “brother” project of the municipality’s project to make the heart of the Historic Center accessible will surely contribute to making São Brás de Alportel a truly accessible destination.

The Commemorative Program of the International Day of People with Disabilities continues today, the 4th, with an Information Session on Support for Employability and Professional Integration in People with Disabilities, initiative of the Municipal Inclusion Desk, and the Professional Insertion Office partnership with the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training.

The program culminates in the special edition of the 10th Anniversary of Mercadinho Solidário, which will take place on Sunday, the 8th, in Largo de São Sebastião, with the participation of two decades of local and regional social institutions.
