Casa da Moeda publishes Xutos & Pontapés coin – 45 years

Rock'n'Roll since 1979, available September 4th

Gui, João Cabeleira, Kalú, Tim and Zé Pedro marked the 20th and 21st centuries with their energy and creativity. They emerged when rock was imported, and gained respect. They formed unexpectedly, debuting on January 13, 1979, and have been accumulating successes ever since.

If someone says «I miss my happy little house» or «The cargo ready, placed in the containers», any Portuguese person will know how to complete these verses. As Nuno Galopim says, Xutos & Pontapés are «the most generationally transversal representatives of Portuguese pop/rock».

An «X» to see in detail
This collector’s coin, the second in the series dedicated to Portuguese Musicians, was designed by the legendary guitarist Tó Trips, who belonged to the duo Dead Combo for many years. On it, we see two of the great icons associated with the band marked: on the obverse an «X» as a symbol of the group, and on the reverse the «X» that fans make with their arms, as a sign of recognition, during their epic shows.
