Casa Fernando Pessoa celebrates 27 years with a three-day program

The initiatives take place on the 27th, 28th, and 29th of November, but it is mandatory to make a reservation, due to the limited space and security conditions imposed by the pandemic situation, Casa Fernando Pessoa announced today in a statement.

Located at Rua Coelho da Rocha, in Campo de Ourique, Lisbon, the house where the poet Fernando Pessoa lived in the last 15 years of life opened its doors to the public on November 30, 1993, the same day that, 58 years earlier (in 1935), the writer had died.

In March last year, Casa Fernando Pessoa closed for remodeling works and reopened in August this year. Now announces a schedule that extends for the three days preceding the anniversary date, Monday, November 30, the day on which the House will be closed, adds the note.

This initiative dedicated to the power of the word, whether sung, spoken, or written, will be heard in the auditorium of Casa Fernando Pessoa, through poems, verses, said or sung, reminding the Portuguese historical and cultural past.

The next day, the doors open to a workshop for children (from 8 to 14 years old) and adults, under the theme “Dr. Abílio Quaresma investiga…”, which invites participants to wear the skin of detectives and the investigating a disappearance at Casa Fernando Pessoa, but it is already sold out.

On Sunday, November 29, there will be a “Guided Visit: From the end to the beginning” to a new exhibition that brings together pieces about one of the most well-known writers in Portuguese literature.
