Casa Ferreirinha in Wine Spectator’s Top 100

The Douro is to be congratulated with Casa Ferreirinha Papa Figos Branco 2016 to be featured in the Wine Spectator’s Top 100 of 2018, the annual selection of the best wines for the North American magazine of world reference.

Papa Figos Branco 2016 by Casa Ferreirinha is the only Portuguese quiet wine to be featured in the Wine Spectator’s Top 100 of 2018, a selection based on all wines tasted throughout the year by the magazine’s editors. Of these, 100 references are selected according to criteria such as the quality, value, availability and enthusiasm that they contribute.

For the enologist, “this is a moment of great satisfaction because we recognize the long-term work of a dedicated team determined to take Casa Ferreirinha and Douro wines further,” says Luis Sottomayor.

In July of this year, the 2016 harvest of Papa Figos Branco had already been highlighted in this reference publication, for the 90 points that were assigned to him and for the selection as Smart Buy. Wine Spectator journalist and critic of Portuguese wines, Gillian Sciaretta, highlighted the aromatic character of this white Casa Ferreirinha, with its notes of spices and flavours of mango and peach puree. For Gillian, this structured white finishes with spices and good minerality, in a long and creamy finish. The criticism also valued the good quality price of the same.

The annual Wine Spectator Top 100 list, which began in 1988, gathers and honours producers, regions and harvests every year around the world. For the Casa Ferreirinha, the presence in this selection reinforces the quality and potential of Douro white wines, while reaffirming the brand as a world reference in the production of quality wines in this region.

Launched in 2016 with great success, Papa Figos Branco is the latest wine to integrate the noble range of Casa Ferreirinha, made up of references such as Vinha Grande, Quinta da Leda or Barca Velha.
