Casino Estoril hosts concert by Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra

The Salão Preto e Prata at Casino Estoril will host, next Thursday, June 29th, at 9.30 pm, a concert by the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra. This is an ACFEA Tour Consultants show. Entry is free.

One of the oldest youth orchestras in the United States of America associated since 1962 with the internationally renowned Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, PYSO has a rich history of touring around the world. Some of its musicians, students of western Pennsylvania high schools and colleges, went on to distinguished careers in the greatest orchestras in the United States of America. Its Conductor, Jacob Joyce is the Assistant Conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra as well as the Conductor in Residence of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

With this program by the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra, an exciting musical menu of diverse styles is offered, which highlights the versatility of these ninety talented young people. They start with the exuberant opening of Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story.

Afterwards, the music travels through several countries, such as, for example, Italy by Giacomo Rossini, Spain by Heitor Villa-Lobos, the United States of America by contemporary composer Jennifer Higdon, Mexico by Arturo Márquez and Russia by Dimitri Shostakovich.

A night of classical music at its best, performed by one of the best youth orchestras in the United States of America.
