Casino Estoril hosts concert by Gulbenkian Choir next Sunday

Casino Estoril will host, next Sunday, June 27, at 6 pm, the Gulbenkian Choir, which stars in the concert “Cole Porter and Friends”. Directed by Jorge Matta, João Barradas on accordion and Óscar Graça on piano will also be in evidence.

Within the scope of the Gulbenkian Itinerante programme, in a partnership between the D. Luís I Foundation and Casino Estoril, with the support of the Cascais City Council, the Coro Gulbenkian returns, after two years, to the Salão Preto e Prata with a concert dedicated to Cole Porter and other composers who were his contemporaries, such as George Gershwin, Marvin Hamlish or Richard Rodgers.

The Coro Gulbenkian stars in a concert that takes us to musicals presented on Broadway or produced in Hollywood, between the 1920s and the 1970s of the 20th century, in a journey of about five decades of songs, such as “Someone to watch over me” , “Night and Day”, “Summertime”, or “Every time we say goodbye”, among others.

Cole Porter is considered one of the most respected North American composers of the genre and his work has been continuously performed by successive generations of performers, remaining timeless.
