The Lounge D of Casino Estoril will host, from October 18th, at 5 pm, a cycle of concerts by the Moscow Piano Quartet, as part of the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth.
The program takes place on Sundays, consisting of four shows that include the integral of the Quartets with Piano by Beethoven and Brahms.
The Moscow Piano Quartet includes an experienced cast of musicians. They are Alexei Eremine (piano), Maria Castro Balbi (violin), Alexandre Delgado (violet) and Guenrikh Elessine (cello). Maria José Laginha, 2nd violin, will be the invited artist.

The Moscow Piano Quartet (Moscow Piano Quartet, MPQ) was created in 1989 at the initiative of Alexei Eremine and Guenrikh Elessine. It should be noted the influence of the great master Valentin Berlinski (cellist of the Borodine Quartet), especially with regard to the careful tuning, the richness of sounds and the deep knowledge of the works performed.
The group toured in Latvia, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Greece, Benelux and Japan, being invited by the most diverse music festivals and the main concert halls in Portugal.
Nurtured by personalities such as the marquise Olga de Cadaval and the composer Fernando Lopes-Graça, MPQ moved in 1990, where it was the first chamber music group to become the Resident Quartet of a Portuguese municipality.
Through a protocol signed with the Municipality of Cascais in 1993, the seasons of ten annual concerts that have since held there have won over a large and enthusiastic audience, which regularly fills the auditorium of the Cascais Cultural Center.
MPQ has been achieving its main objective, that of disseminating all works written for violin, violet, cello and piano, from the classical period to the present day, including the lesser known ones.
After a first CD, dedicated to Mahler, Schnittke and Brahms, MPQ released in 2012 a new CD with the first worldwide recording of the piano quartets by Anton Rubinstein and Eduard Napravnik.
Among the great artists with whom the group has collaborated are Augustin Dumay, the Borodine Quartet, Natália Gutman, Ivan Monighetti, Mikhail Schmidt, Claudio Arimani, Elizabeth Keusch, António Rosado, António Saiote and Nuno Inácio, among many others.
