Opened in 2006, Casino Lisboa celebrates, today, April 19th, eighteen years of activity. Considered a reference in the Capital’s tourist offer, Casino Lisboa, distinguished itself, from the outset, for the highest and most sophisticated quality standards it offers to its visitors.
With an innovative matrix, Casino Lisboa received more than 26 million visitors, over eighteen years of activity, which reflects the success of the Estoril Sol Casino. The significant attendance of the public translates into around 1.5 million / year, corresponding to a daily average of around 4,000 entries.
These are relevant numbers, despite the Covid-19 pandemic situation which, in 2020 and 2021, caused a severe social, economic and financial crisis, resulting in an extremely negative impact on visitor arrivals at Casino Lisboa.
Shows at the Oceanos Auditorium
With a truly unique program, Casino Lisboa staged 190 different shows at the Auditorium of Oceans, in a total of 3,190 Sessions/performances, attended by more than 1 million and 530 thousand spectators.
Shows such as STOMP, Momix, Crazy Horse, Monty Python’s Best Sketches, A Verdadeira Treta, Blue Man Group, Vai-se Andando, Apanhados na Rede or The Voca People, É Como Diz o Outro, Rock The Ballet, Slava Snow Show, Home Sweet Home, Poor Millionaire, Are We All?, 40 What’s Up?, First Name, GOD, Plaza Suite, Son of Treta, The Realistic Days, More Respect That I’m Your Mother, Raul, Zé Manel Taxista, Selfie, The Worst Spectacle of the World, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, A Peça que Dá para o Torto e Trair and Coçar é Só Comçar, among others, were major box office successes, selling out sessions for weeks at the Auditorium of the Oceans.
It is worth noting that, since February 1st, the comedy “Cenas que Acontecem” has been on stage at the Auditorium dos Oceanos. Ângela Pinto, Beatriz Barosa, Manuel Marques and Luís Esparteiro will be, until April 28th, the protagonists of a play full of humour, but with relevant and timely messages against prejudice. On May 2nd, at 9 pm, the comedy “O Amante do Meu Marido” will premiere, starring Marta Andrino, Frederico Amaral, Rita Simões and Paulo Matos.
Entertainment at the Arena Lounge
The central space of Casino Lisboa – the Arena Lounge – was the stage for musical shows, as well as new circus performances. Around 810 music bands performed on the multipurpose stage, in addition to ambient music and the Juke Box section.
Regarding the “Novo Circo” performances, around 200 artists passed through the central stage of the Arena Lounge, from various countries and continents, including Portugal.
The musical entertainment at the Arena Lounge also included the “Arena Live Concerts” cycle, in November and December, from 2006 to 2019 (except 2009, 2012 and 2013), starring national and international bands. In 2020 and 2021, the Arena Live Concerts were not held, and they returned in 2022.
Art Gallery
The Casino Lisboa Art Gallery hosted around 145 exhibitions of contemporary art and avant-garde works, among others, always with free entry. Located in the area surrounding the Arena Lounge, the Art Gallery thus constitutes a reference in Casino Lisboa’s entertainment and cultural offerings.
With an avant-garde layout and aesthetic options inside marked by originality, Casino Lisboa differentiated itself, from the outset, by the excellence of its programming of concerts, shows, and exhibitions, among other cultural initiatives, which attract millions of visitors. , predominantly young people, to areas reserved for recreational and leisure activities.
