Cátia Azevedo reaches minimums in 400 meters with national record

The 27-year-old Sporting athlete finished the final of the Spanish competition in second place, behind Dominican Marileidy Paulino (49.99 seconds).

Cátia Azevedo surpassed the qualifying mark for Tokyo2020, set at 51.35, two weeks after setting the previous national record, with a record of 51.61, also in Spain, in Andujar, on 22 May.

The athlete, born in Oliveira de Azeméis, increases to 12 the representatives in athletics, being the first Portuguese sprinter qualified for the next Olympic Games.
