As part of the “Há Fado no Cais” cycle, there was silence at the CCB – Centro Cultural de Belém, to hear Fado, with the magnificent Camané.
Accompanied by musicians José Manuel Neto on Portuguese guitar, Carlos Manuel Proença on viola de fado and Paulo Paz on contrabass, Camané, who identifies himself as an interpreter, offers us his voice in a retrospective of his career.

Mário Laginha, with whom Camané recorded the album “Aqui está-se sossegado” and saxophonist Ricardo Toscano are Camané’s very special guests.
In his romantic voice, themes such as “Súplica”, “O Amor” and “Mote” by Fernando Pessoa, “Dança da Volta” and “Recado a Lisboa” were heard.
Camané has an engaging relationship with his audience, his voice transports us to another universe, in which for almost 2 hours we forget the difficulties of the pandemic, the confinement. There were “Recado a Lisboa”, “Ela Tinha uma Amiga” and “A Guerra das Rosas”.
With Mário Laginha on stage, the CCB heard “Se Amanhã fosse Domingo” and by David Mourão Ferreira and José Mário Branco “Chega-se a este Ponto”.

The saxophonist Ricardo Toscano and double bass player Paulo Paz, with lyrics by Luís de Macedo, we heard “Asas Fechadas“.
Camané always pays tribute to the great national fado singers, as well as the composers, Alfredo Marceneiro, Amália Rodrigues, José Mário Branco, Luís de Macedo, David Mourão Ferreira, João Nobre and Aníbal da Nazaré, Manuela de Freitas and Fernando Pessoa, Jaime Santos.
Maria do Rosário Pedreira, one of the favorite poets of the fado singer, João Monge and Sebastião Cerqueira, António Sabrosa. Thus, “Amar não Custa Nada“, “Fado de Peniche“, also known as “Abandono” and “Madrugada de Alfama“, “Quando o Fado Acontece” were heard at CCB.
From grande Vitorino, he performs for the first time live the fado “Alcântara” and we continue with “Sei de um Rio” and “A Correr”. Confirming his predilection for Alfredo Marceneiro, who was one of his greatest fado references, he sings the “Fado cravo” with lyrics by João Ferreira Rosa, “Triste Fado”.

A magnificent night of fado ends with “Saudades Trago Comigo”, by António Calém, a standing audience, in a thunderous ovation, in a deserved tribute to the one who, perhaps, is the best Portuguese male fado singer today.
