CEiiA and ELIO launch new company for agroforestry monitoring and digitization

CEiiA (Center for Engineering and Product Development) and ELIO will present this Friday, October 2, in Évora, at CEiiA’s facilities at PACT (Alentejo Science and Technology Park), a new joint company whose main objective is to ambition to revolutionize the agroforestry sector through the monitoring and autonomous management of assets, transforming data into business insights.

In this session, an extended discussion on the challenges of the agroforestry sector will be promoted, with a particular focus on the integration of technology in response to the themes of the Innovation Agenda for Agriculture 2030.

ELIO TECNOLOGIA is a joint venture between CEiiA and the Brazilian ELIO that results from the valorization of science and knowledge generated over the years with partners from several countries, namely with MIT in the USA, ITA in Brazil and now in Portugal.

This company aims at the development, industrialization, and commercialization of new services for the agricultural sector, based on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, such as drones and airships (Elio Airship).

The Elio Airship is an innovative airship to be industrialized in this new company, with the capacity to travel great distances, with loads of up to 250 kg of payload, which with the use of Artificial Intelligence applied to a Robot-as-a-Service logic, aims to revolutionize the market.

According to Tiago Rebelo, CEiiA’s Product Development Director, “This strategic partnership with ELIO allows CEiiA to evolve in the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles area with the integration of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Visual Intelligence, for the monitoring and management of assets, transforming data into economic value applied to new generation agriculture.”

The new company has a short-term goal of placing technological solutions on the European market that will help provide the agriculture sector with greater efficiency, more income, more digital inclusion and more technological innovation.
