Micah P. Hinson returned to Portugal for a special Musicbox concert to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of his legendary album Micah P. Hinson and the Gospel of Progress.
American singer, songwriter and guitarist from Memphis, Tennessee, known for his Country, Alternative/Indie Rock, and Indie Pop music.
Micah P. Hinson was born into a strict fundamentalist Christian family. She began experimenting with music and drugs after moving to Abilene, Texas, as a teenager. Despite facing personal problems, including prison, addiction and bankruptcy before the age of 20, she became involved in the local music scene.

His debut album, Micah P. Hinson and the Gospel of Progress, was recorded in 2003 with the help of Texas pop chamber music band The Earlies and released in 2004 to critical acclaim. The album explores themes of love, loss and regret.
His first recordings were later released as The Baby and the Satellite in 2005. He has released several other albums, including Micah P. Hinson and the Opera Circuit (2006) and Micah P. Hinson and the Red Empire Orchestra (2008).

In 2011, he was involved in a near-fatal car accident, and his recovery period influenced his later songwriting. His 2014 album, Micah P. Hinson & the Nothing, is considered his darkest and most personal work.
He has released ten critically acclaimed albums and has built a loyal fan base, primarily in Europe. He currently divides his time between Texas and Spain. His music is often described as esoteric Americana/folk, with a raw and emotionally honest quality. His raspy, worn voice and intense delivery are distinctive features of his sound.

He draws inspiration from artists such as The Cure, Skinny Puppy, My Bloody Valentine and The Jesus and Mary Chain, although his sound is more Americana and folk-country.
