Celebrations of the centenary of the birth of Mário Sacramento in Aveiro
Today, July 10th, the Aveiro City Council pays homage to Mário Sacramento, evoking and commemorating the centenary of his birth.
The evocative session starts at 2:30 pm at ATLAS Aveiro and will be dedicated to the work and life of Mário Sacramento, the greatest writer of Portuguese Neorealism. The session features interventions by the Mayor of Aveiro, José Ribau Esteves, the researcher on the life and work of Mário Sacramento, Eunice Malaquias Vouillot, and the Professor and researcher of contemporary Portuguese history, José Pacheco Pereira.
It will also open to the public a biographical exhibition dedicated to Mário Sacramento and works by the Educational Community of Escola Secundária Mário Sacramento / Mário Sacramento School Grouping will be presented.
In this exhibition, the Grand Cross of the Order of Liberty will be exhibited, attributed last Tuesday, July 6th, by the President of the Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
The session complements the marking, by the Aveiro City Council, of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mário Sacramento, whose first moment took place in July 2020 with the unveiling of the plaque in the place where he had his office on Avenida Dr. Lourenço Peixinho.
