To mark International Family Day, on May 15, Amoreiras Shopping Centre invites all families to create new memories and celebrate the date in an original and inspiring way, through a visit to “Rainlight” – an artistic creation that promises to amaze children and adults.
With free admission and an environment that combines art, science and emotion, this sensory experience is the ideal suggestion for a cultural moment with the family. Created by Dutch artist Irma de Vries, from Studio Irma, this immersive creation is in Portugal for the first time and transports the public to a sensory universe that awakens happiness and well-being.
Inspired by the natural phenomenon of rain and its positive effects on the human mind, “Rainlight” provides an impactful visual and sound experience, ideal for sharing between generations.
The shopping mall invites you to escape, in an environment where art becomes a refuge. Highly Instagrammable, Rainlight also offers a stunning visual backdrop, perfect for sharing unique moments on social media.
This installation, composed of thousands of suspended lights that simulate shiny raindrops, immerses visitors in a dance of colours and reflections. Each step inside the space is an immersion into an ethereal landscape, where the shine of the rain comes to life in dynamic and vibrant patterns.
Irma de Vries, founder of Studio Irma and an international reference in the world of contemporary art, has had prominent places at the Moco Museum in Amsterdam, Barcelona and London, and has also presented her work in Brussels and Romania. Through her visionary creativity, she has created projects that have attracted the attention of international personalities, such as the actor Idris Elba and the singer Dua Lipa.
Based on the concept of negative ions, which are associated with increased serotonin and a sense of well-being, the work offers an emotional and visual refuge, providing visitors with a moment of respite from the fast pace of everyday life.
The “Rainlight” installation will be on display until May 21, from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., at Amoreiras Shopping Centre (2nd floor, near the stairs of Praça Central).
