Chef Elísio Bernardes of Meliá elected “Ambassador of Taste for the Global Gastronomy”

The Executive Chef of the Meliá Braga Hotel & Spa, Elísio Bernardes, has just received the honorary title “The Ambassadors of Taste for the Global Gastronomy®” Silver Medal 2021, which comes to reward his dedication to local, seasonal and conscious cuisine.

This official award is one of the most important for Chefs and other entities related to gastronomy, worldwide.

Born in the north of the country, Elísio Bernardes has been Executive Chef of Meliá Braga since January 2020 and Chef of the football team of S.C. Braga. He has cooked in haute cuisine restaurants across Europe and is one of the prominent names in the north of the country.

Elísio Bernardes believes that Chefs can change the world, inspiring humanity to think and live sustainably, reducing food waste, respecting the ingredients and the value of natural resources and never forgetting animal welfare.

This Award recognizes Chef Elísio’s contribution to the valorization of regional cuisine and traditional Portuguese recipes as well as his active role in social and environmental sustainability causes.
