Chico Brown, Filipe Catto, Letrux and Lucas Santtana bring the brand new Brazilianness

Chico Brown, Filipe Catto, Lucas Santanna, and Letrux are part of the brand new generation that is renewing Brazilian Popular Music (MPB) with experimental sounds, a fusion of musical genres, and reinterpretations.

Son of Carlinhos Brown and grandson of Chico Buarque de Holanda, the singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and Chico Brown brings music in his veins. The concert that Chico Brown will present at Samambaia brings versions and experimental approaches of renowned MPB classics, some instrumental pieces, and original songs, some in partnership with Marisa Monte and others unpublished. In the show, Brown will also play the waltz composed by him, with lyrics by his grandfather Chico Buarque, released on his most recent album – ‘Massarandupió‘.

In the path of experimentation, Filipe Catto, the renowned non-binary trans artist of the new MPB, who gained fame at a very young age, presents a voice and guitar concert where he mixes samba, modern tango, and genres such as jazz, rock, and bolero. Catto has his songs in the soundtracks of television and cinematographic productions such as “Saga” (track from the soap opera Cordel Encantado), “Quem É Você” (Sangue Bom), “Adoração” (Saramandaia) and “Flor da Idade” ( Rare jewel). He has shared the stage with artists such as Maria Bethânia, Elza Soares, Ney Matogrosso, Vanessa da Matta, and Maria Gadú, among other artists.

Letrux is another novelty of this program, the singer-songwriter will launch her 2nd book, “Tudo que já nadei“, performing an autograph night and a poetic performance, where she will declaim some texts from the book, as well as songs, authorial and other composers that inspire her.

Born in Salvador, Lucas Santtana expands his universe through influences from Afro-Brazilian rhythms, Motown funk, Brazilian heavy metal (à la Sepultura) and European electronics that allowed him to design sound textures that revolutionized his work. . After a European tour with Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso, he proves that the traditional Brazilian Tropicália could be adjusted and fit into an international pop context.

Samambaia – Bar d’A Voz do Operário enters its second year, increasingly eclectic, bringing together concerts that privilege the encounter between Lisbon artists with expressions from all over the world. In an environment of borderless communion between the public and the artists, Samambaia establishes itself as an informal embassy of good music and transatlantic dialogues in Portugal.
