Christina Vantzou & John Also Bennet at Salão Brazil in June
On the 6th of June, at 9:30 pm, the Salão Brazil receives, for the first time, the collaboration between Christina Vantzou and John Also Bennett.
The duo’s first album, Thoughts of a Dot as it Travels a Surface (Shelter Press, 2018), was the soundtrack to a panoramic wall drawing by Zin Taylor, and musically mapped, in a serene and inventive way, a visual work site -specific. The second album, Landscape Architecture (Editions Basilic, 2020), put the musicians to work in perfect understanding and complementarity in various visual and spatial scenarios, allowing their music to paint colors or lines in the atmosphere, or fill voids and produce structures of a intense psychophysicality. Using acoustic instrumentation and an extensive sound genealogy, CV & JAB compose ambient musical auras that reconfigure the three-dimensionality that surrounds us, creating comfort to connect us emotionally.
In the concert that the Salão Brazil will host, it will be possible to perceive the individual work of Christina Vantzou and John Also Bennett, as well as their work together.
In addition to the date at Salão Brazil, the duo will perform on June 3 at 10 pm, at Escola do Largo, in Lisbon, with the artist Nuno Morão in the first part, in a production by Nariz Entupido. On the 4th of June, at 6 pm, it will be Porto’s turn to receive the duo, at the Matéria Prima store.
