CineEco de Seia Festival names three environmental films for the 7th GFN Award

CineEco – Serra da Estrela International Environmental Film Festival nominated three candidates for the 7th GFN Award, organized by a worldwide network of 40 environmental film festivals.

The 7th GFN Award is an important prize organized annually by the Green Film Network (GFN), a network of 40 environmental film festivals from around the world, which takes place online this year, after having been physically organized by previous years. festivals in Paris (France), Zaragoza (Spain), Dominican Republic, San Francisco (United States of America), Toronto (Canada), and CineEco de Seia (Portugal).

For best feature film, the festival of Seia, in the district of Guarda, named “A Alma de um Ciclista“, by Nuno Tavares, who won the prize for best Portuguese language feature in the 26th edition of CineEco, which took place in October.

For best short film, the nomination of CineEco fell on “Vi(r)agens”, by Patrícia Pedrosa, winner of the short film prize in Portuguese of the last edition of the festival.

Finally, the direction of the same environmental film festival nominated “All the Time in the World”, by Canadian director Suzanne Crocker, for the film of the decade.

A total of 31 films compete in the categories of best short film and best international feature film, and 13 compete for the best feature film of the decade.

The 7th GFN Award ceremony, scheduled for February 16, 2021, will be presented virtually on the GFN platform website.

CineEco is the only film festival in Portugal dedicated to environmental issues, in its most comprehensive sense, which takes place in Seia, annually in October and on an uninterrupted basis, since 1995, at the initiative of the local municipality.
