Cinema São Jorge celebrate its 71 years

The emblematic cinema on Avenida da Liberdade, in Lisbon, celebrated 71 years yesterday, February 24, and the Lisbon City Council invites you to take a journey through the history of this mythical space.

Cinema São Jorge was built in the late 1940s, and inaugurated in 1950, at the initiative of the Anglo-Portuguese Society of Cinemas and designed by architect Fernando Silva, receiving, unanimously, the Municipal Architecture Prize of that year.

The municipality of Lisbon invites you to remember and celebrate the anniversary of this mythical Portuguese cinema. “Congratulations Cinema São Jorge!
