The 10th edition already has a date set. The Festival will be back on the streets of Quadrilátero Cultural between July 16 and 20, 2024
From the 18th to the 22nd of July, national and international artists invaded some of the main spaces in the cities of the Quadrilátero Cultural – Barcelos, Braga, Famalicão, and Guimarães –, to share, with fans and onlookers, the best of contemporary circus arts. All told, there were more than 5,300 people who passed through the Vaudeville Rendez-Vous Festival to watch the shows or to participate in training workshops, masterclasses, or pitching sessions.
The ninth edition of the initiative, promoted by Teatro da Didascália, had as its motto the reflection and rewriting of past editions, through a program that had a total of 28 performances of 11 shows – including four national premieres, an absolute premiere and two co-productions.
Over five days, the Vaudeville Rendez-Vous took the audience on an introspective journey, where there was no shortage of challenges to the laws of gravity and moments of social criticism. Bruno Martins, artistic director of Teatro da Didascália, highlights the adherence and involvement of the audience, which, “year after year, continues to consistently demonstrate enthusiasm for the art of contemporary circus”. The person responsible for programming the Vaudeville Rendez-Vous Festival also takes the opportunity to thank the collaboration “of all the artists, technicians and members of the organization, who worked tirelessly and without whom the success of the ninth edition of the Festival would not be possible”.

Next year, Vaudeville Rendez-Vous marks a decade of building a contemporary circus legacy in the north of the country, and the 10th edition is already scheduled. Between July 16 and 20, 2024, the initiative – which is now a tradition – will return. For now, the promise remains to flood, once again, the streets of the Quadrilátero Cultural with the joy of circus arts.
