Coliseu Christmas Circus is back with Artists from all over the world

From 13 December to 5 January, artists from all over the world show at the Christmas Circus of the Porto Ageas Coliseum what is most fantastic about the circus arts. With an original story written by Afonso Cruz, staging by Ana Luena, light drawing by Cárin Geada, and original music by Carlos Tê and Pedro Vidal, we invite kids and adults to a unique, unrepeatable and surprising show.
For the 2024 edition, the Coliseum challenged Afonso Cruz to write an original story for a memorable circus for the first time. Winner of the European Union Prize for Literature, Afonso Cruz tells us an ode to the Circus and all the arts that make this a beautiful, demanding and surprising show, that makes us widen our eyes from early childhood and awakens in adults the ability to dream.
And because the main role of the Circus is the circus artists, there will be impossible balancing acts and juggling, daring flights in a trapeze and roller-skating at full speed, aerial tapes, hula-hoops, the master of the air master, Bold acrobatics in the heights and the contagious joy of clowns.
Developed and programmed by the Coliseu, the Circus of the Coliseu combines the classics of the circus tradition with contemporary. The result is a unique circus show in Portugal, rejuvenated and complete, with a selection of artists from different countries: Datinelli Brothers (Portugal), Jamie & Beata (Scotland and Poland), Duo Jordanella (Austria and Switzerland), Priscila Alves (Portugal), Mateo Sito (Argentina), Agustin Rodriguez Beltran (Hispano-Mexicano), Los Guerreros (Colombia and Peru), Duo Wonderlust (Australia), Susana Madeira and Pedro Almendra (Portugal).
A true festival of talent, surprise and fantasy, since 1941 the Circus of the Coliseum Porto Ageas is an uninterrupted and unmissable event in the city calendar. The premiere takes place on a lucky Friday, December 13, at 9:00 pm, and has several sessions until January 5. See all dates and times at www.coliseu.pt.
Tickets have just been put on sale at the Colosseum, Ticketline and usual places, with prices between 10€ and 20€. Children up to 3 years old have a 75% discount. Children up to 12 years old have a 50% discount. Friends of the Coliseum and holders of the Porto Card. enjoy 20% discount.
