The show premiered on April 24 at CCB as part of the programming celebrating 50 years of April 25 in that venue and now has new dates scheduled.
For the first presentation, this Friday in Braga, the band features the participation of A Garota Não, Ana Lua Caiano, Capicua, and EU.Clides. In Faro, on the 17th, Ana Lua Caiano and Capicua will be joined by Jonas, Kiari Flores, Paulo Flores, and Xullaji.
“Instead of putting on a show where we witness and celebrate, serene and relaxed, our past, we want to build something that reveals the fragility of democracy, showing the new anxieties, the new revolutions, the new actors of these changes, against new threats and others that, although they seem old, we believe do not affect us. Something that stimulates and motivates us to continue fighting for freedom. Something that finds parallels in the past but gives us a push to think about a more democratic, fairer, more humanistic future. Something that is not distant from us but creates a present emotion that makes us feel alert. That shows us an unknown territory worth fighting for.
We are interested in the idea of bringing together a collective of artists who feel comfortable as active witnesses of their time, using musical and poetic language that relates to the present. Music that naturally reflects the way we express our feelings today, not with a pessimistic attitude, but that makes us reflect and create autonomy of thought to continue building freedom and correcting the flaws of democracy — ‘Democracy is the worst of all systems, except for all the others’ (Sérgio Godinho).
A show that is truly a trigger, a weapon, that sings of rage and joy, that points to our conscience because, as José Mário Branco says, ‘discouragement, mysticism, and illusions… never made revolutions.'”
