Cláudia Pascoal edits “!!” your second album
features Manuela Azevedo, Marante and Natalia Lacunza and is now available
In “!!”, Cláudia Pascoal surrounded herself with people she admired and with whom she dreamed of working. The dream came true in names such as Manuela Azevedo, who sings the theme “Precaução” with her, Marante in “Onde Vais Amanhã”, the kitsch moment ‘a la James Bond’ of the album, and Natalia Lacunza, a more recent relationship but of equal mutual admiration, on the theme “Assim Assim”. Sitting at the table was Filipe Melo, who made the string arrangements for some of the album’s themes, and Joana Marques, who set the tone for the album’s intro and closing.
“What most attracted me to the idea of producing Cláudia Pascoal’s album was the possibility of discovering her particular universe, a place made of traditions and the future, of absurdity and reality, a world that is very clear in her eyes and that was urgent to discover and unveil.” It is a dazzled David Fonseca who describes “!!”: “The songs are about specific moments and people, but a universality runs through them and makes us think that they are also ours. One moment he’s dancing in a modern camp with friends, the next he’s in a room contemplating pain from the past. Suddenly she is hugging her mother in a moving statement and then she is placing a Chaves pastel on a podium. And it is in this unexpected movement that Cláudia’s songs meet, in a giant pleasure of being alive and seeing the world through her unique eyes, impossible to resist.”
In “!!” The singles “Nasci Maria” (the song with which he returned to the Festival da Canção this year), “Eh Para a Frente, Eh Para Trás”, “Fado Chiclete” and the more recent “Lugar I” & “Lugar II” and “Precaução”. The album will be released on vinyl, available from May 26th.
“The technical construction of this album is the perfect analogy of my development and my personal discovery and as an artist: the first mockup of a song I gave David, was recorded on my cell phone sung to the ukulele, and the last one arrived in pre-produced stems”. “!!” is the reflection of that. “This is the culmination of many hours and a lot of “nerdiness” alongside David Fonseca.”
The presentation concerts of “!!” will take place on the 24th of May at the already sold out Teatro Maria Matos, in Lisbon and on the 4th of June at the Hard Club, in Porto.
