After a hiatus in releases since her collaboration with Ana Bacalhau on “Imperial é Fino”, Cláudia Pascoal returns with a powerful musical manifesto: “Puras Donzelas”, now available.
With the boldness and identity that have always marked her career, Cláudia presents a song that breaks with conformism and challenges conventions, in a cry for freedom and self-affirmation. “Puras Donzelas” is an intrinsically feminist song that exalts authenticity and individual strength, promoting a conscious rejection of pre-defined roles and standards imposed by society. In this new single, the artist invites us to stop being “just another sheep in the flock” and celebrate who we are.

“Puras Donzelas is an act of symbolic resistance against gender norms and oppression – a free and self-affirming feminine identity! My voice celebrates individual freedom and rejects the traditional roles imposed on women in society and the music industry. As usual, I use puns and cultural symbols, this time with the popular song ‘Meninas de Odivelas’, to question norms and affirm the complexity and strength of feminine identity. I am very passionate about our very Portuguese culture, but I love using it to humbly criticise it.” — Cláudia Pascoal

More than a comeback, “Puras Donzelas” reaffirms Cláudia Pascoal as a unique voice in the Portuguese music scene – courageous, conscious and always ready to provoke reflection through her art.
“Puras Donzelas” is now available on all digital platforms.
