Club Makumba will perform at the Municipal Auditorium of the Seixal Cultural Forum, on December 2nd (Saturday), starting at 9:30 pm.
This musical group was born from the union between guitarist Tó Trips, João Doce (drums), Gonçalo Prazeres (saxophone) and Gonçalo Leonardo (bass and double bass), who propose to perform a free, spontaneous, experimental and tribalistic musical exercise.
Paulo Silva, president of Seixal City Council, states that «this is a council of musicians and bands that, regardless of their musical style, have taken the name of Seixal to the country and the world. In this case, we expect a performance that promises to captivate an audience as heterogeneous as the nature of this show promises».
This collective of musicians opens the window for a journey through the sounds of the Mediterranean and imagined Africa and their music is a flag of resistance raised on Mediterranean coasts, free from any prejudice or geographic or stylistic borders. In 2022, after touring the country from north to south, Club Makumba experimented with internationalization by participating in the «Opening Ceremony», at Womex 2022, and at the Festival Boreal, in Tenerife (2023), resulting in new singles, namely the «Longa Duração» (successor to the debut album of the same name) and also the already confirmed presence at the Eurosonic 2023 festival.
The Club Makumba show is aimed at people over 6 years old. The ticket cost is 6 euros (with 50% discounts for citizens, young people up to 25 years old, retired people and workers in Seixal municipalities).
