The 38th Exhibition of Crafts and Ceramics in Barcelos, which takes place from September 10th to 19th, at Parque da Cidade, once again boosts handicrafts and artisans.
In a special year for handicrafts and for the artisans of Barcelos, who saw the registered trademark “Galo de Barcelos”, one of the greatest and most significant symbols of the country and Portugal, and also for pottery and figurines in Barcelos, who passed away. Using the European Union’s trademark registration, this event consolidates the Municipality’s commitment to the value of Barcelona’s handicrafts.
This event, one of the oldest in the country, counts on the presence of the most important artisans from each handicraft sector (figured, pottery, basketwork, and wicker, iron, and derivatives, wood and embroidery) and portrays all the richness of art and work traditionally.
In this year’s edition, 122 artisans participate, 91 of whom are from Barcelos, and the Municipality returns to relying on the traditions of the past with daily workshops where you can learn the arts and crafts, which include weaving, pottery, figurines, embroidery, basketwork. , among others.
The event allows visitors to come into contact with traditional arts and live work and promotes the richness of traditional Barcelona art and work, which reaffirms the Municipality’s commitment to supporting the work carried out by the artisans.
Every day, there will be street and street entertainment throughout the venue, featuring folklore groups from the county and traveling circus entertainment.
The opening is scheduled for September 10th at 5:30 pm. The National Exhibition of Crafts and Ceramics of Barcelos will be open from Monday to Friday, from 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm, and on weekends, from 3:00 pm to 10:30 pm.
