The Street Festivities begin today

Magic and sound are in the air

The Street Parties, organized by EGEAC, extend the spirit of the holidays, transforming gardens, squares and other spaces into attractive stages to enjoy outdoors on your return to the city.

6 days of Magic, 3 days of Sound Art, 5 days of Dance, 2 great concerts, 6 festivals of different artistic expressions – Cinema, Video, New Circus and Music – and a fair dedicated to Santo António will fill the city, from today, August 22nd, culminating in a special event to celebrate World Music Day.

In the natural amphitheater of the Silence Valley, in Olivais, the work of John Williams, one of the most talented and successful composers in the USA for film and stage, is celebrated.
A timeless concert, on the 9th of September, to listen to the eternal soundtracks of films such as ET – The Extraterrestrial, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter or Indiana Jones, performed by the Gulbenkian Orchestra, under the direction of maestro José Eduardo Gomes.

On the 23rd of September, musician and composer Rui Massena, accompanied by 14 musicians, presents some of his compositions on the piano, such as Um Lugar, Resistir, Mateus, and Estrada, in a late afternoon concert in Praça do Município.

Festas na Rua also celebrates World Music Day (October 1), proposing three days of festivities with performances by bands from the Army, Air Force, and Navy, as well as from the GNR and PSP, based in Lisbon, which will liven up Quinta da Granja, in Benfica (next to the Colombo Shopping Centre) on the 29th and 30th of September and the 1st of October.

With free entry and for all ages, Festas na Rua includes many other proposals, with emphasis on the events that are already common in this program, such as Lisboa Mágica, Lisboa Soa, Lisboa Mistura, Solo Fest, and weekends of open-air dance free under the slogan Dancing the City.

Magic Lisbon

Lisbon Magica starts today at Praça do Município. For six days, magic happens all over the city, at different times, with 15 national and international artists and almost two hundred shows in a festival that presents the best of Magical Art worldwide.

Lisboa Soa

“Multipli.Cidades” is the theme of this edition of the festival of sound art, ecology, and culture that is divided between the Quartel do Largo do Cabeço da Bola and Carpintarias de São Lázaro with sound installations, performances, and workshops that will be accessible to the public between the 24th and 27th.
