The fifth edition of Comic Con Portugal, the largest pop culture event to be held in the country, starts in a month from September 6th to 9th.
For the first time, and after four years at Exponor, in Matosinhos, the meeting will be based on the Algés Maritime Promenade, in Oeiras, a space that hosts the NOS Alive festival every year. The change allows Comic Con Portugal to gain a “new dimension and projection” and reach even more public, said the director of the event, Paulo Cardoso.
Despite not wanting to advance, for now, with numbers, the official guarantees that the expectation is to overcome last year’s edition, that is, to receive more than 100 thousand people. “We will have people from all over the country and a significant percentage of foreigners,” says Paulo Cardoso, without hiding that these figures imply tight security measures, which “are being worked on with the authorities.” The enclosure will also be larger: it goes from 60 thousand square meters, in Exponor, to about 100 thousand, in Oeiras. The organization will have more than two thousand people.
For the next few weeks, Paulo Cardoso promises the release of a “big poster”, which will satisfy fans of cinema, literature, television, comics, music and video games. Through the Passeio Marítimo de Algés, where the structures begin this week, they will pass big stars linked to pop culture, film and series anthologies, among many other activities and experiences related to these areas. Tickets range from 25 euros (daily ticket) to 105 euros (4 days pass).
