Among the 24 films that will compete for the Palme d’Or, four are signed by directors.
Among the out-of-competition films, highlight goes to “De son vivant” by Emmanuelle Bercot, with Catherine Deneuve, Cécile de France and Benoit Magimel. Filming of this work was interrupted when Catherine Deneuve was hospitalized.
A new section entitled “Cannes Premières” was also announced, which will feature new works by renowned filmmakers who are not in the competition.
Another new feature this year is the creation of an ephemeral section dedicated to environmental issues.
In total, the official selection for the 74th edition of the Cannes Film Festival has 61 films. The composition of the jury for this edition, chaired by the American director Spike Lee, has not yet been revealed.
From the parallel programs, it is known that the American director Frederick Wiseman, 91 years old, will receive the career award of the Quinzena de Realizadores.
