Multi-platinum singer-songwriter Conan Gray surprised fans with the announcement of his new album, “Wishbone,” now available for pre-save and set for release on August 15.
In addition to revealing the upcoming album’s title, lineup, and cover art, Conan also announced that the first single, “This Song,” will be released on Friday, May 30.
Conan Gray commented on the surprise announcement: “For the past two years, I’ve been secretly writing songs. After shows, backstage at venues, in hotel beds, in the short breaks between tours — I’d come home and write all the things I felt like no one wanted to hear. Maybe even things I didn’t want to hear myself.”
“The music reminded me of who I am, in an experimental phase of my 20s where ‘who I am’ had no definition whatsoever.” Conan continues, “I showed the songs to the first person I ever made music with, Dan Nigro, and I started recording, in silence. I didn’t know why, I just knew I had to. I was just living it. Little by little, I started seeing myself. The parts of me that had always been there but that I had never faced. The songs I had always written but never sung. Before I knew it, I had an album all around me. That album is ‘Wishbone.’”
Similar to his first two albums, Conan wrote all of the songs on Wishbone from his bedroom, and he reteamed with longtime collaborator and Grammy winner Dan Nigro as executive producer. Nigro produced Conan’s debut EP, Sunset Season, in 2018, as well as the albums Kid Krow (2020) and Superache (2022). Additionally, Conan worked with Ethan Gruska (Phoebe Bridgers), Noah Conrad, Luka Kloser and Elvira as producers on Wishbone.
In Wishbone, Conan Gray returns to his singer-songwriter roots after falling in love for the first time.
