Concerto comemorativo dos 80 anos de Adriano Correia de Oliveira
Sociedade Filarmónica Operária Amorense
The Concert ‘Antes Que Sequem os Rios’, with Vítor Paulo and guests, takes the stage of the Sociedade Filarmónica Operária Amorense, on March 18, at 9.30 pm. ‘Antes Quem os Rios Sequem’, with free entry, is a meeting of friends and a reunion with Adriano Correia de Oliveira.
As part of the commemorations of Adriano Correia de Oliveira’s 80th birthday, the City Council of Seixal launched a challenge to the singer and musician Vítor Paulo to think of a show that paid homage to Adriano, focusing on the richness of his repertoire.
Adriano Correia de Oliveira, born on April 9, 1942, in Avintes, Porto, «was a unique voice in Portuguese music, interpreting words of struggle and resistance against the fascist dictatorship, accompanying the many conquests of April in the revolutionary period», recalls the mayor of Seixal, Paulo Silva.
Throughout his forty years of life, he was always on the side of freedom, democracy, and social justice, always on the side of the people. Adriano Correia de Oliveira was one of the most outstanding authors of Portuguese intervention music and the song of Coimbra. His unique voice was distinguished by timbre and clarity.
The Municipality of Seixal celebrates the 80th anniversary of the birth of Adriano Correia de Oliveira, with ‘Antes que Sequem os Rios’, with the participation of Vítor Paulo, Maria Anadon, Filipa Pais, and Carlos Alberto Moniz, in the voices, and by the musicians Tânia Lopes (percussion), Davide Zaccaria (cello), Nuno Tavares (piano), Nuno Pinto (guitars) and Luís Marques (bass).
