Casino Estoril welcomes 2024 with a concert by the Cascais Symphony Orchestra. In the privileged environment of the Black and Silver Hall, on January 7th, at 6 pm, maestro Nikolay Lalov leads a musical program dedicated to Johann Strauss II.
Considered the king of the waltz, the conductor, composer and violinist was particularly appreciated by kings and rulers. Marking the 125th anniversary of the Austrian musician, the Sinfónica de Cascais presents waltzes, polkas and overtures by Strauss II.
The program includes the Bat Overture, Geschichten aus dem Wienerwald (Vienna Woods), Der Zigeunerbaron (Gypsy Baron), Romance No. 2 (Dolce Pianti), Diplomaten-Polka, Csárdás, Spanischer Marsch, Blue Danube Waltz and also Unter Donner und Blitz. Tritsch-Tratsch-Polka, by Eduard Strauss, will also be heard.
The Sinfónica de Cascais, directed by Nikolay Lalov, who is also the conductor and artistic director of the Orquestra da Câmara de Cascais e Oeiras, began the activity in 2015. To complete the musical offering of the municipality of Cascais, it established itself with a season of between four and six concerts per year.
