New Year’s Concert, in the Seixal, recreates «The Four Seasons», by the Músicos do Tejo
Municipal Auditorium, January 5 (Sunday), at 4 pm
The Municipal Auditorium of the Cultural Forum of Seixal will be the stage of the New Year’s Concert, next January 5 (Sunday), at 16 hours.
Under the musical direction of Marcos Magalhães, Os Músicos do Tejo will recreate the famous song «The Four Seasons», by the Italian Antonio Vivaldi, probably one of the most known pieces in the history of world classical music.
Paulo Silva, president of the Seixal City Council, refers to this interpretation as «a masterpiece, during which the poems will be heard in Portuguese translation and, in an original and community spirit, the concert will have several soloists recreating the different movements that compose it. It will be, surely, a unique and unrepeatable cultural moment not to be missed».
Composed in 1720 and published in Amsterdam in 1725, with poems that explained what the music intended to evoke, «The Four Seasons» deserves to be heard repeatedly, reaching the Christmas parties, in this case through the art of Os Músicos do Tejo, constituting a unique moment to discover (or rediscover) a fundamental and timeless work of classical music.
About Os Músicos do Tejo:
Founded in 2005 and directed by Marcos Magalhães and Marta Araújo, the group Os Músicos do Tejo has developed a remarkable path in the European panorama of ancient music. Its work has been guided by two complementary axes: to make known works of the Portuguese musical heritage that are unpublished or not very accessible and, at the same time, to develop innovative and multidisciplinary projects, with current artists, in order to reflect creatively on music and its role in today’s society. In his already extensive career, he produced five operas in partnership with the Centro Cultural de Belém, performed in numerous concerts in Portugal and abroad and recorded six albums. Since 2011, he has recorded exclusively for the publisher Naxos, which ensures worldwide distribution. All the albums have had excellent reviews nationally and internationally and one of them, «Il Mondo della Luna», was nominated for best classic album in the 2021 edition of Play – Portuguese Music Awards.
