Fado singer Sandra Cristina celebrates 40 years of Fado and offers us her Fado Imperfeito. A unique and exciting journey, into the world of fado and other music, where the imperfections of the life of love and longing will be explored.
On this trip Sandra Cristina has as companions the multifaceted singer Maria João, on violin and piano Francisco Tavares da Silva, voice Sandra Correia, on Portuguese guitar Diogo Coelho and Pedro Amendoeira, on fado viola Ricardo Ferreira da Silva, on double bass Filipe Teixeira, on percussion José Carlos Poland.
Fado Imperfeito is the name of the album released in March this year and which has 11 songs.
About Sandra Cristina
It was in the parish hall of his city, at the age of eight, that he sang for the first time in public.
Born in Leça da Palmeira, she got to know Fado with her parents, who appreciated this style and supported Sandra Cristina’s involvement in this art.
Her debut in Fado took place two years later when fellow Fado singer Leopoldo Morgado took her to sing in a show at the Clube Desportivo de Massarelos. She performed for the first time in a Fado House, Taverna de S. Jorge, at the age of 12, where she was adored by the public and her colleagues.
At the age of 13, she won first place in the Fado Castiço category and the second grand prize for amateur Fado held by Produções Fernando Gonçalves / Rádio Festival. That same year she recorded her first album.
At the age of 15, she won the amateur Fado Competition, in the youth category, promoted by the Association of Fado Singers of the North, which took place at Teatro Sá da Bandeira.
She stands out among musicians and singers, who love her and help her evolve and enter the professional Fado circuit with the support of entrepreneurs such as Lopes Almeida, Cipriano Costa and António Badua. Since then, she has been performing in the most diverse places, national and international, being a resident artist at Fado Português, one of the Fado houses in Porto, and at the concert “A Casa do Fado”.
