The charismatic Russian musician Boris Grebenshchikov, recognized in the artistic world as BG, will perform on the 19th of February, at 8 pm, in the Salão Preto e Prata at Casino Estoril. Due to the war, Boris Grebenshchikov interrupted the career of his rock group “Aquarium”, presenting himself, temporarily, accompanied by a new group of musicians that integrate the band “BG +”.
In an absolute debut at Casino Estoril, Boris Grebenshchikov stars in a concert that combines several new songs and other classics from the rock group “Aquarium“. The show is yet another way for musicians to demonstrate their protest against the war.
Boris Grebenshchikov is a prominent member of a generation of prestigious musicians who are considered the “founding fathers” of Russian rock. BG founded, in 1972, the iconic rock group “Aquarium”, since then being the lead singer and its main reference.
Due to the tragic events in Ukraine, it was precisely on its 50th anniversary that the group “Aquarium” suspended its career. Boris Grebenshchikov lives in exile in London, having performed for the last time in Russia on February 23, 2022, the day before Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine.
The first concert by “BG+” took place, on March 2, 2022, at the mythical club London Troubadour, where English folk was born in the 50s. On tour, the composition of the band “BG+” varies from concert to concert, but in its backbone, in addition to Boris Grebenshchikov, there will be bassist Alexander Titov on stage, on keyboards Konstantin Tumanov and flutist Brian Finnegan who will be accompanied in some performances by percussionists Liam Bradley and Gleb Grebenshchikov and violinist Andrey Surotdinov.
With numerous concerts scheduled, in countries on different continents, “BG+” want each performance on their tour to be considered as yet another statement by musicians against war.
