Festival Jardins do Marquês

In addition to the proposals on the main stage, since the second edition, the festival has also offered a second stage, the Palco Nortada, with shows interspersed with the main stage, thus giving the public the possibility to arrive early and enjoy unique summer nights, filled with outdoor music.

The programming of this stage stands out for the diversity of proposals, in tune with the music that can be seen and heard on the main stage, between emerging names and others already established: Banda B.Leza (June 28), A Sul (June 29), MALVA (June 30), Aline Paes (July 5), Jason Miles (July 6) and Zanibar Aliens (July 9) are the names that will pass through the Palco Nortada of this year’s edition of the festival.

BANDA B.LEZA

Banda B.Leza was founded in 1996, with the same name as the club where it was born, under the musical direction of pianist and composer Toy Vieira, an essential figure in Cape Verdean music. Its formation included musicians such as Manecas Costa (Guinea), Nandinho (Angola) and Costa Neto (Mozambique), who affirmed Creole culture in a Lisbon that was and is increasingly assuming itself as the natural space of the Lusophony(s).

In a legendary live recording at Clube B.Leza, the band left an indelible mark in 2002 with the release of their only album to date, considered by many to be the best of the PALOP music scene at the time. This record includes funanás, mornas and coladeras that left their mark on the audience with contagious rhythms. Crossing paths with major symbols such as Bana, Tito Paris, Nancy Vieira or Paulino Vieira, whose repertoires it evokes remarkably, Banda B.Leza continues its residency at Clube B.Leza, without allowing itself to be closed in on itself.

Its basic formation is composed of musicians and performers of recognised talent, such as David Pessoa on vocals, João Gomes on keys, Ivan Gomes on guitar, Renato Chantre on bass and Nir Paris on drums. Banda B.Leza continues this musical journey with the same goals: to celebrate traditional music, to meet renowned names and others less known to the public, and to continue writing this story filled with such hot rhythms. And the next chapter will be written on the Palco Nortada stage at the Jardins do Marquês-Oeiras Valley Festival, on June 28th.

A SUL

A Sul is the project of Cláudia Sul, an artist who explores the boundaries between her great passions: music and sound design. After her debut with the EP “Já Agora” (2022), she is preparing to release her first full album, “Quer Quer Quer”, scheduled for autumn 2025 by Cuca Monga.

In 2023, she was awarded the FNAC New Talents award, and in 2024, she collaborated with Moullinex and Yulia Niko, an electronic music producer based in Berlin, on the song “Sand”, consolidating her name in the emerging music scene. Composer and producer of her songs, A Sul seeks to transform sound into image, giving her music a strong visual and cinematic character.

The result is an immersive experience, both live and on record, where each of the eleven songs that will make up the new album, including the already revealed “Gin” and “Tela”, unfolds into suggestive narratives, balancing vulnerability with a light and humorous side. Sul promises to win over the audience at the Jardins do Marquês-Oeiras Valley Festival, on the Palco Nortada, on June 29th.

MALVA

Carolina Viana, born in Viana do Castelo and based in Porto, emerged on the music scene with redoma, a duo from Porto that she formed with producer Joana Rodrigues. The desire to exhibit a solo musical work came from an old concern, that of wanting to have a voice whose responsibility was solely his, and thus MALVA was born, the result of this search and even more personal experimentation.

His debut album, “vens ou ficas”, was released in October 2023 and was included in several lists of the best national albums of that year. “poros” is the name of his second album, released in January 2025. It is a very different album from the previous one, and there is an image that can define it: it is a kind of corridor or passage. It is a more collaborative album since, now outside the room where “you come or stay” was born, it allowed others to enter, “calmly, without making too much noise”. And that’s also how he promises to win over the audience at the Jardins do Marquês-Oeiras Valley Festival. MALVA performs on June 30th, at Palco Nortada.

ALINE PAES

Aline Paes’ music is a vast ocean of multicultural influences that go from the Brazilian coast to the world, valuing femininity, love, faith and the strength of Brazilian popular music. Born in Rio de Janeiro, the singer combines her striking and precise voice with the diversity of Brazilian rhythms. She began her career with the album “Batucada Canção”, which took her around Brazil and Europe and won over a loyal audience. Winner of the Brazilian Music Divas Award, Aline had the honour of singing alongside big names such as Alaíde Costa, Ademilde Fonseca and Dóris Monteiro.

Invited by Hamilton de Holanda, she joined the Baile do Almeidinha project and shared the stage with artists such as Diogo Nogueira, Elba Ramalho and Pretinho da Serrinha, in addition to performing in a duo with multi-instrumentalist Pedro Franco at the opening of the show by Antônio Zambujo and Yamandu Costa. In May 2024, Aline released her latest album, “Corpo Mar”, a recording that navigates through diverse soundscapes in dialogue with the music of Atlantic countries, in partnership with renowned musicians such as the Angolan Paulo Flores, the Cuban Aliesky Pérez and the Brazilian Marina Íris.

At the Jardins do Marquês-Oeiras Valley Festival, Aline will open her European tour, accompanied by the guitarist and Djâmen. The show will also feature an emotional tribute to the unforgettable Gal Costa, who would have turned 80 in 2025.
Aline Paes promises to win over the Brazilian public with her performance on Palco Nortada on July 5th.

ZANIBAR ALIENS

Zanibar Aliens is a band that has been gaining space with a unique and authentic proposal. With influences from classic rock from the 60s and 70s, with psychedelic and experimental touches, the band creates a sound that is both nostalgic and innovative, also making its presence felt on stage with contagious energy. Formed by musicians passionate about the art of reinventing rock, Zanibar Aliens stands out for the dynamism and boldness of their compositions.

Its sonic identity reflects a deep connection with rock’s roots while embracing contemporary experimentation. Since the release of their first album, “Bela Vista” (2015), Zanibar Aliens have been present at some of the biggest Portuguese festivals. In 2017, they recorded their second album, “Space Pigeon”, in the United Kingdom, demonstrating a more mature and cohesive sound evolution.

“Zanibar Aliens III” (2019) and “IV” (2020) followed. In their shows, the band translates the intensity of their compositions onto the stage, providing unforgettable moments to the audience with striking solos, bold arrangements and an atmosphere that transports the audience to another dimension. And that’s what will happen on the Palco Nortada stage at the Jardins do Marquês-Oeiras Valley Festival, on July 9th.
