Constantino Sakellarides, one of the national authorities in the field of Public Health, is the guest speaker at the opening of the II Congress of the Master’s Degree in Nursing, taking place online between September 23rd and 24th, under the theme “Specialized nursing: challenges in a world in change”, in an organization of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, through its School of Health (ESS/IPS).
The meeting, which marks the start of the 6th edition of this postgraduate training, resulting from a partnership between five higher education institutions (University of Évora and polytechnics of Beja, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, and Setúbal), intends to bring to the public debate the intervention of specialist nurses in a society profoundly altered by the pandemic, by demographic, socioeconomic and environmental changes, with significant repercussions on health systems.
“How to manage change in today’s health systems?” is the theme of the opening conference, scheduled for Thursday, 23rd, at 10:00 am, by Constantino Sakellarides, former director-general of Health and full professor at the National School of Public Health (Universidade Nova de Lisboa).
In addition to the presentation sessions of the course, whose 6th edition will be coordinated by the ESS/IPS, and the discussion around intervention in the various areas of expertise, the program also offers, over two days, other important reflections, namely on “The future of specialized training in Nursing in a changing world”, by academics Lucília Nunes (ESS/IPS) and Manuel Lopes (University of Évora), on the 24th, at 2:30 pm.
Closing at 4:00 pm on the 24th, the II Congress of the Master’s Degree in Nursing offers the vision of Helena Águeda Marujo, psychologist and associate professor at ISCSP (University of Lisbon), on “The art of being light: science proposals for more lives happy in challenging times”.
