Convergence for Culture calls for a demonstration for May 17 in Lisbon

The Convergence for Culture Platform this Saturday marked a demonstration for May 17, in Lisbon, day of the Council of Ministers of Culture of the European Union, to denounce the Portuguese Government before European partners.

Convergence for Culture calls the cultural sector and civil society to a gathering at Praça do Império, in front of the Centro Cultural de Belém, on May 17, 2021, at 3:00 pm, during the course of the Council of Ministers of Culture of European Union.

Since April 2020 it has alerted the Government to the problems inherent to the Portuguese Classification of Professions and to the CAE [Economic Activity Code] and CIRS [IRS Code] of the Cultural sector: because of them, the successive announcements of support by the Ministry of Culture, already insufficient and questionable, die in the web of bureaucracy and continue to leave thousands of Portuguese behind.

Convergence for Culture invites all formal and informal organizations to join this protest.

This civic platform emerged last year and brings together formal and informal movements from that sector, including, among others, the organization of Vigultura Cultura e Artes, the Canceled Movement, the Art institute, the Movement for the Performing Arts Professionals, the National Association for the Union of Arts and Dance in Dialogues.
