COOLJAZZ and Smooth FM present a Talent Contest focused on national Jazz, in the 2023 edition of CoolJazz. The objective is to support national jazz production, giving Portuguese jazz projects the opportunity to present themselves in the 18th edition of COOLJAZZ and promote their aerial work on Smooth FM.
Applications are open from March 30th to May 31st. On the 20th of June, the bands that take the stage of the CASCAIS JAZZ SESSIONS by Smooth FM are announced.
“We are very pleased to once again have a contest aimed at national talent giving space to Portuguese jazz projects. In recent years, we have invited several young artists who are developing their jazz projects on the stage of the CASCAIS JAZZ SESSIONS, in order to give visibility and showcase Portuguese talent. In partnership with Smooth, we will elect three jazz, soul, or blues bands, in order to amplify the talents of national jazz.” – Karla Campos, CEO of Live Experiences.
For the director of Smooth FM, Miguel Cruz, “following what Smooth FM accomplished on its 8th anniversary (2019), it is with great satisfaction that we now launch this new challenge, even more relevant, since it is about being able to act on what is the biggest jazz stage in the country.”
Since 2017, COOLJAZZ has created the CASCAIS JAZZ SESSIONS stage, focused on national talents, with the aim of supporting jazz artists. This initiative became a specific moment in the festival’s programming, giving national talent a unique highlight in COOLJAZZ’s daily lineups. For the 18th edition, in partnership with Smooth FM, three winning projects will be selected that join the remaining 4 Portuguese jazz projects, thus forming the CASCAIS JAZZ SESSIONS by Smooth FM stage lineup.

COOLJAZZ has 3 concerts per night.
It starts at 8 pm with the Cascais Jazz Sessions by Smooth FM, followed by the First Concert on the main stage and ending with the Great Concert on the main stage, at times yet to be defined. Closer to the date, check the festival schedule at cooljazz.pt.
