COP24: Works start today, official inauguration is tomorrow

The work of the world climate meeting COP24 begins today in Katowice, Poland, to discuss specific commitments to combat climate change, and the role of technologies and citizens.

According to the agenda of the 24th Conference of the Parties (COP24) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the first plenary meetings begin today, although only on Monday will the official opening ceremony of the world meeting, which lasts until December 14.

The conference brings together the representatives of the parties to the UNFCCC and is organized by Poland for the third time, bringing together leaders from different countries in the final phase between 11 and 14 December.

Portugal will be officially represented by the Minister of Environment and Energy Transition, João Pedro Matos Fernandes. Environmentalists and experts on Portuguese climate change also participate in COP24.

With regard to the beginning of COP24, a climate march will take place in Brussels today.
