Cork sector grew in value and activity

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he cork sector in Portugal shows a growth trend in activity and value, discloses a study by APCOR in collaboration with Deloitte Corporate Finance SA that analyzed the financial and operational performance of the sector, as part of an initiative that materializes one of the activities of the “Cork_Inov” project, a program developed under the SIAC Qualification, and financed by Compete 2020, Portugal 2020 and the European Union – FEDER, with an investment of around €650,000.

The report also characterizes the economic and financial situation of cork companies, with the primary objective of analyzing the main macroeconomic indicators of the Cork sector in Portugal and in the world, with emphasis on indicators such as the overall evolution of activity, profitability, employment, the foreign market , solvency and capital structure.

The cork sector, whether companies linked to extraction, processing or marketing, generates more than 9000 jobs nationwide.

From an operational point of view, the study gathers information regarding the typology of companies in the sector, allowing them to consider the best financial solutions based on their size and nature.

The study also provides a comparative analysis of the Cork sector vis-à-vis Portuguese manufacturing industries, also based on the indicators mentioned above.

With this study, APCOR carries out yet another activity for the reinforcement of knowledge that is available to its companies.
