Solidarity Cosplay Gathering in Matosinhos: 500 Cosplayers, a charitable cause, a united community.
After the huge success of the Cosplay Gathering held at Parque das Nações in Lisbon last year, Iberanime is once again bringing the community together for a new edition of this epic gathering – this time in the north of the country.
On August 30th, at 3 pm, the Thamel Restaurant in Matosinhos will host a colourful and charitable gathering of cosplayers, fans of anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture. The goal? To bring together 500 cosplayers and, in doing so, unlock a €1,000 donation for a charity chosen by the public.
This is more than just a fan gathering: it’s a celebration of creativity, community, and positive impact in the real world.

Iberanime Porto 2025: the big news already confirmed!
The Matosinhos Charity Cosplay Gathering is the perfect warm-up for Iberanime Porto, which returns in full force on October 11th and 12th, with three amazing artists already confirmed:
Kota Shinzato – Japanese singer and actor, finalist in the prestigious “24th JUNON Superboy Contest” in 2011, where his performance of “Olivia wo Kiki Nagara” earned him more than 10 offers from agencies and record labels. In 2013, he made his official debut with the single “HANDS UP!”, which quickly became an international hit when it was chosen as the 16th opening theme for the anime One Piece. The song reached 20th place on the Oricon charts, solidifying his popularity both in Japan and abroad.
Spill the Tea – With over 2.2 million followers across their platforms, Spill the Tea is a creative force that combines cosplay, music, makeup, fashion, and performance like no other. They will be in Portugal for the first time at Iberanime Porto, on October 11th and 12th, for an unmissable weekend!
Gaijin Sentai – Combining rock, metal, and Eastern influences, Gaijin Sentai has become an international reference in the world of anime and Japanese pop culture. Their energy on stage, charismatic presence, and contagious passion have created a legion of fans around the world—and Portugal is no exception!
An event that unites passion and purpose
Iberanime continues to establish itself as the largest Japanese pop culture event in Portugal, with a growing impact on the community.
Many activities and new features have already been confirmed for this Porto edition, including:
Cosplay Photography Contest: A unique initiative dedicated to the art of capturing cosplay images. This initiative aims to recognise and promote the talent of national photographers dedicated to the world of cosplay.
Iberanime Orchestra: The Iberanime Orchestra debuts at Iberanime Porto 2025 with an unmissable concert, bringing a unique fusion of music and Japanese pop culture to the stage. Composed of a quintet of violin, clarinet, guitar, cello, and percussion, this special ensemble will perform moving versions of iconic anime and video game themes.
Gaming Tournaments: The Iberanime gaming area returns to Porto with a stage full of challenges, prizes, and lots of fun! This area promises two intense and interactive days, with moments designed for all video game fans—from the most competitive to those who just want to have fun. The Gaming Stage will feature exciting tournaments, interactive game shows, Astro Bot Time Trials, a Gaming Quiz, and a Music Quiz with prizes for the gaming and music world’s know-it-alls.
Hands-on voice acting workshop with Quimbé: a hands-on workshop where visitors can experience, firsthand, the process of voicing characters from animation and other formats. They can learn techniques, test the microphone, and discover the behind-the-scenes art of voice acting.
