Costa invites Finnish businessmen to invest in Portuguese forest

The prime minister, António Costa, today invited Finnish businessmen directly to invest in Portugal in the area of forest resources management and energy valorization, saying that the country has this “huge challenge” ahead.

António Costa made this challenge to Finnish entrepreneurs at the closing session of the “Portugal / Finland” economic seminar, in a speech that preceded that of his Finnish counterpart, Juha Sipilä.

The prime minister began by arguing that Portugal has “a huge strategic challenge” related to the management of its forest, “but also a huge business opportunity.”

According to António Costa, Finnish companies, many of them considered a worldwide example in this sector of activity, have in Portugal “good business opportunities, both in the management of forest resources and in the energy valorization of these same forest resources” in the country .

“I believe we have a solid foundation here where we can establish a fruitful and lasting cooperation between Portugal and Finland and between Portuguese and Finnish companies,” he added.
