‘Cozinha dos Ganhões’ in Estremoz promotes Alentejo gastronomy
The 26th edition of “Cozinha dos Ganhões”, the largest gastronomic fair in Alentejo, opens its doors on Thursday in Estremoz, in the district of Évora, to promote tourism and gastronomy in the region, the municipality announced today.
The denomination of “gain” was attributed formerly to the workers of the agriculture in the farms of the Alentejo.
With a stage in the city’s fairgrounds, this gastronomic festival, promoted by the municipality and running until next Sunday, with free admission, counts on the participation of eight restaurants, with areas for those who want to snack, and five sweet shoppers.
The event, which attracts thousands of visitors annually, besides presenting the “rich gastronomy and sweets” of the region, also has exhibitors of regional products and artisans of the county.
The animation program includes, among other initiatives, a night of fado, on Thursday, shows with the singers Toy (Friday) and Rosinha (Saturday), performances of groups of dances and folkloric ranches and a gathering about the wine.
According to the municipality, the “Cozinha dos Ganhões” is an event that promotes tourism in the municipality, which intends to value the traditions and customs of this county and the Alentejo, and offers, for four days, “taste, conviviality “.
The gastronomic festival, according to the promoters, “will count on the best Alentejo cuisine”, contemplating the typical dishes of the region.
According to the local authority, the event will “present what Alentejo has the best”, namely gastronomy, regional products, sweets, wines, sausages and handicrafts.
At the same time, the 5th edition of the “Estremoz Hunting, Fishing and Activities in Nature” fair is taking place, with the participation of dozens of exhibitors, in one of the pavilions of the fairgrounds, which includes a program of activities related to these sectors organized by Confraternity of Friends of the Field, with the support of the municipality.
