Creative Labyrinth In Famalicão gives the “Volta ao Mundo” of the history of graphism

Casa Do Lado opened this morning the doors of the Labyrinth of Arts, a project that invites visitors to give the “back to the world” of the History of Graphics through 10 rooms in the form of a creative labyrinth that provide a trip through different times – from rock art to the art of the 21st century – to meet customs and discover techniques kept secret for centuries.

Located in Quinta d’A Casa, in the parish of Requião, the Labirinto das Artes intends to cover the school public during the week and families and the general public during the weekends.

Each of the 10 rooms of the Labyrinth of the Arts is dedicated to a historical period, beginning in the Paleolithic period. In this era, are following the rooms where the secrets and artistic techniques used in the Metal Age, ancient Egypt, ancient Greece, and the Roman Empire are uncovered. The second half of the Labyrinth tour explores the graphic arts developed in the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, Neoclassicism, and Impressionism, culminating in a space dedicated to the artistic movements of the 20th century, also known as modern art.

At the end of the visit to the Labyrinth, always with monitoring and in the company of a narrating voice, the visitors will be able to complement the experience with the accomplishment of several practical activities (that later can take home), to perform in the Labyrinth Workshops that are in the end of the course.

So that the knowledge of all the graphs presented in the Labyrinth of the Arts can be acquired in depth, each theme (room) will be explored for a year in all theoretical and practical activities.

Thus, until April 2020, the Paleolithic will be the first graphic record to be interpreted by visitors at the Labyrinth Workshops, where they will develop practical works of lithography, engraving, pyrography, mural painting, and modeling.

It should be noted that the Labyrinth of Arts project already has partnerships with national and international entities, such as the UNESCO National Commission, the MuPAI – Pedagogical Museum of Children’s Art (Madrid) and the CMA – Children’s Museum of the Arts (New York).
