Cremilda Medina performs on October 14th in Vila Nova de Gaia

Cremilda Medina will take the stage at the Gaia Municipal Auditorium, in Vila Nova de Gaia, to present her latest album Nova Aurora. The concert takes place on October 14th and is scheduled for 9:30 pm.

Cremilda Medina is one of the most renowned and recognized artists from Cape Verde, she released her latest album Nova Aurora last May and since then she has been on the road to present to the public her roots and her captivating morna sounds as well as the joy of the Cape Verde glue makers.
Mindelo in Cape Verde, Almada, Beja, and Valença in Portugal, are some of the places where Nova Aurora has already passed, and after the show in Vila Nova de Gaia, Cremilda heads to Luxembourg where she will perform on October 19th at the Festival Atlântico da Philharmonie Luxembourg.

“Wherever we have been, people welcome us with great affection and tell us that they can feel Cape Verde in our music, that we are faithful to our tradition and our composers, and that fills me with pride, as this is My goal is to continue to bring to the world and preserve the pure sounds of Cape Verde’s ancient times, rescuing forgotten memories to revive our history…”, reveals Cremilda.

Cremilda was born and raised in Mindelo, on the island of São Vicente in Cape Verde, with a striking personality, sweet voice, and simple manner, she is committed to a musical career based on tradition, the appreciation and dissemination of Morna, today Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the musical style with which he most identifies, and which best portrays the essence of the people of Cape Verde.

On stage, Cremilda and her musicians embark on a rich and fertile journey through the rhythms of Cape Verde’s traditional music, in a project played and sung with simplicity and feeling, where Cape Verde and its people feel, in arrangements orchestrated to be them to a passport for a trip to Cape Verde.

In this show, Cremilda brings songs from her new album, as well as songs from her first album Folclore that have marked her artistic journey.

Cremilda Medina is accompanied on the piano by Humberto Ramos, responsible for musical direction, with the participation of Adérito Pontes on guitar, Djudjuty Alves on cavaquinho, Renato Chantre on bass, and Cau Paris on drums.
