Cremilda Medina takes the stage at the 40th Festival de Almada

July 7

The Almada Festival celebrates its 40th edition bringing together some of the most distinguished national and international creators and companies.

Twenty theater, music, dance, and new circus shows will be presented on nine stages in Almada (Teatro Municipal Joaquim Benite, Escola D. António da Costa, Fórum Romeu Correia, Incrível Almadense, Academia Almadense) and Lisbon (Centro Cultural de Belém).

After presenting her most recent album Nova Aurora at the Fernando Lopes-Graça Auditorium in Almada on June 16, Cremilda Medina is one of the greatest voices in Cape Verde’s traditional/popular music today, who has taken her music on journeys across various stages around the world, returns now, to Festival de Almada, with an intimate concert of voice and guitar.

The concert by Cremilda Medina takes place on Friday 7th July and is part of the “Music in esplanade” program that takes place at Escola D. António da Costa at 8 pm.

Cremilda Medina proposes a concert in which the morna, the musical style with which she most identifies, will be the protagonist. Let’s get ready for an intimate journey through the Creole islands, through the sound of the voice and traditional guitars of Dany Fonseca and Djodje Almeida, which, together, portray the soul of a country.
In this show, Cremilda performs songs from her new album, as well as songs from her first album Folclore that have marked her path.

The Almada International Festival, 40th edition, starts today, Tuesday, July 4th, and runs until July 18th.
