LAV welcomed Crystal Fighters yesterday with their LIGHT+ 2024 TOUR in a fantastic night of joy, good spirits, and excellent music in a packed house at LAV – Lisboa ao Vivo, with fans who accompanied them throughout the night.
After postponing their visit to Portugal due to Sebastian contracting Malaria during the group’s trip to Ghana, Crystal Fighters arrived eager to reward their Portuguese fans and delivered a memorable concert, which they will surely replicate today at Hard Club in Porto, followed by several concerts in Spain and then in England.
Crystal Fighters, composed of Sebastian Pringle on lead vocals and guitar, Gilbert Vierich on electronics, guitars, and percussion, and Graham Dickson on guitar and txalaparta, are joined on stage by Laure Stockley and Mimi Borrelli on backing vocals, filling the room with joy through their energy.
But when the world changed due to the pandemic, they too changed, becoming separated across different continents, and the energy that emerged can be heard in their new album LIGHT+, especially live.
Fans felt that energy, which they released on the LAV stage; it was impossible not to vibe to the sounds of Crystal Fighters last night, dancing and singing. One only had to look at the smiles and joy coming from the audience to understand how much they were enjoying this tropical pop rave.
LIGHT+ was produced by Charlie Hugall and Luke Smith, who also received help from Ghost Culture in the electronic area, celebrating life and the light that shines within each of us in the darkness.
Formed in 2007, this Anglo-Spanish electronic music band released their debut album, Star of Love, in 2010 in the UK and in the US by Atlantic Records in 2012, combining elements of electronic music, folk, rock, and traditional Basque music. Their songs are often characterized by melodic vocals, dance rhythms, and exotic instruments, such as the txalaparta, a traditional Basque percussion instrument.
Their discography includes Star of Love from 2010, 100% from 2013, Everything Is New from 2016, At Home from 2018, and now LIGHT+, along with several singles and EPs that have delighted many fans.
Crystal Fighters have played at various festivals such as Coachella, Glastonbury, and Bonnaroo; yesterday it was their turn to shine in Lisbon and today in Porto.
